The Russian netminder is having a season for the ages. His save percentage currently sits at .942 and only one goalie in NHL history has finished better in that category (Jacques Plante at .944 in 1970-71).

While his save percentage and goals against both lead the league, his true value to the Rangers goes much beyond that and has made him a serious contender in the Hart Trophy odds as well. The Rangers are 28-6-3 with Shesterkin in net for a points percentage of .797. Without him, they’re 8-10-2 for a points percentage of .450. The Blueshirts have gone under the total in seven of Shesterkin’s last eight starts. Ironically, the lone game in that span that went over was a 5-3 win against the Blues last week. That’s also the only game where Shesterkin has allowed more than 2 goals in his last 10 games.
