One of the must-see matchups on Saturday night sees Part II of the Battle of Alberta this season. The Flames took the first contest between these two sides 4-3 a couple of weeks ago and the Oilers are road underdogs in this one. You can bet McDavid will be looking to even the score.

He’s not the only superstar looking to light up the scoreboard on Saturday, so let’s take a look at our best player prop picks below and explain why they’re the best bets.

Patrick Kane Over/Under Points

It’s a homecoming for Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane on Saturday when he returns to the city he grew up in. Although Chicago is off to a fairly surprising 4-3-0 start, the Blackhawks are road underdogs against the Sabres.

Kane should be motivated to deliver in his hometown. He has only been held off the scoresheet when playing in Buffalo once in his career, although that was in his last outing in the Queen City last year. That was a pretty meaningless game in late April with the Blackhawk’s season already long done.

In his three previous visits to Buffalo, he had multipoint games and we can probably expect that again. After a slow start to the season, Kane has seven points in his last three contests. He’s coming off a season-high, three-point game against the Oilers and we don’t expect the former Hart Trophy winner to slow down on Saturday.

Auston Matthews Shots on Goal

Goals haven’t been easy to come by for the reigning Rocket Richard Trophy winner so far this year. Auston Matthews broke his mini-slump last game with a wicked one-timer against the Sharks. It wasn’t enough to get the Leafs a victory as some are questioning their positioning in the Stanley Cup odds.

The Leafs continue their California road trip Saturday night with the over/under total set at 6.5 goals against the Los Angeles Kings. Surprisingly, the Leafs, who were an offensive juggernaut last year, have gone under the total in six of their seven games this season.

With only two goals so far this year, Matthews is one of the reasons they’re not scoring more goals. He fired seven shots on goal last game and with the media already starting in on the Leafs and their slow start, expect Papi to be motivated to end the chatter and continue ripping shots on Saturday.

Evgeni Malkin Anytime Goal Scorer

After a red-hot start to the season, the Penguins have stumbled the last two games out West. On Friday night, they lost to the Canucks, who were the last winless team in the NHL prior to beating the Kraken on Thursday. You would expect the Kraken to be the remedy to their current slump as the Penguins are road favorites in Seattle.

A good player prop bet here is to take Evgeni Malkin to score. The Kraken were the most penalized team in the NHL going into Friday night’s action and two of the big Russian center’s four goals this year have come with the man advantage.

In fact, 37% of Malkin’s career goals have come on the power play, so look for the former 50-goal man to load up for one of his patented one-timers or bury from in close when he gets the chance against Seattle. One other note, he scored the only previous time he played against the Kraken last year — on the power play.
