Die Meister. Die Besten. Les grandes équipes. The champions. Yes, the Champions League is finally back this week and you do not want to sleep on this slate of qualifying matches. In all fairness, you rarely get matches this early in the season with the stakes that come hand in hand with a Champions League bid.

Seven matches will be taking place across Europe for the Champions League’s first qualifying round on Wednesday afternoon.

This is the first leg of two matches, in which 15 winners will advance to the second round of qualifying. There, they will be joined by the likes of Dinamo Zagreb, Olympiacos, Viktoria Plzen, Maccabi Haifa and Zurich in the Champions Path.

In this table, there are a couple of favorites that stand out with some really valuable odds. For moneyline picks, Ferencvaros at +100, Sheriff Tiraspol at +115, and Maribor at +100 seem like the safest, plus-odd plays.

If you’re new to betting on this sport, then take a look at our How to Bet on Soccer page.

Tobol Kostanay vs Ferencvaros Prediction

Firstly, I want to preview this match because Ferencvaros has been an interesting watch for the past couple of years. Zöld-fehérek has taken part in the group stage of either the Champions League or Europa League in each of the last three years. While they finished in third or fourth in each of those groups, they proved that they are capable of hanging around with Europe’s best.

Furthermore, Ferensvaros were brilliant last season in the Hungarian league. They won 75% of their away matches, and somehow only conceded ten times across those sixteen trips. So, while the Ortalıq Stadion seems like a daunting trip, do not use that as a swaying factor in your prediction.

The only other thing worth mentioning about Ferencvaros is that this is their first competitive match of the season. Also, newcomer Adama Traore from Tiraspol should provide even more goals to their attack, led by Tokmac Nguen.

Conversely, we are catching Tobol in the midst of the Kazakhstan Premier League. Currently, they find themselves in fourth place, obviously three spots lower than their finish in last year’s campaign. Considering they have never qualified, I expect an early exit for Tobol.

Pick: Ferencvaros moneyline (+100)

FK Bodø/Glimt vs KI Klaksvik Prediction

Next, we have another interesting battle between Bodø/Glimt and KI Klaksvik. Frankly, everyone is here for Bodø after last year’s triumphant campaign in the Europa Conference League.

The side, managed by Kjetil Knutsen, avoided defeat against Jose Mourinho’s Roma not once, not twice, but three times. Additionally, they beat the likes of Zorya Luhansk, CSKA Sofia, Celtic and AZ.

However, it is safe to say that their performance in Eliteserien this year has been subpar. Through 12 games, they have only won twice at home and only have a 17% clean sheet record across all matches.

KI Klaksvik are not really tested in the Faroe Islands, so their league performance is rather irrelevant. But, we do know they have put up some absolute score lines in the last three years. They have scored in their last six European qualifying matches, hitting the over on 2.5 total goals in all six. The over play has odds of -220 which are too juicy for me, so I will ride with both teams to score.

Pick: Both teams to score (+170)

HSK Zrinjski Mostar vs Sheriff Tiraspol Prediction

Finally, we get the pleasure of watching HSK Zrinjski Mostar vs Sheriff Tiraspol.

I will make this one rather quick. Sheriff Tiraspol was a force last season, and shocked the world in the Champions League, managing to take down Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid.

They went unbeaten in their last 14 games and their last defeat was against Braga in the Europa League. But, Tiraspol was able to win the first leg 2-0, and only lost the tie on penalties in a second-leg disaster.

To make things short, I am riding with Tiraspol all the way in European qualification. Their moneyline odds of +115 are simply too attractive to pass on.

Pick: Sheriff Tiraspol moneyline (+115)
