  • Final day relegation battle at Goodison Park between Everton and Bournemouth at 11am ET on Sunday
  • Bournemouth must win and hope Aston Villa and Watford are beaten

Bournemouth travel to meet Everton on the final day of the English Premier League  season on Sunday (11am ET kickoff) knowing that even a win may not be enough to save them from relegation.

A victory at Goodison Park will not be enough for Bournemouth if either Aston Villa or Watford avoid defeat.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton team, meanwhile, have nothing to play for and can finish no higher than 11th in the table.

EPL Round 38 Everton vs Bournemouth Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total at Fanduel
Everton -1 (+320) +120 Ov 2.5 (-174)
Bournemouth +1 (150) +200 Un 2.5 (+142)
Draw -1 (+330) +270 N/A

*Odds taken on July 25

Bournemouth are in 19th place with 31 points, which has them above already-relegated Norwich City. They have been stuck in the bottom three drop zone for the past 10 rounds of fixtures during an appalling run of form.

They have lost nine times in the last 12 games, a spell in which they have managed only one win and two draws.

They will be fighting for their lives on Sunday, so at +270, the draw looks viable here simply because it is the best price on offer.

Dead Rubber for Everton

This is particularly true with it being a dead rubber in the EPL’s final round of fixtures for Everton, who have been in patchy form during a spell of drifting at the end of the campaign.

Everton have drawn their most recent two home games against Southampton and Aston Villa – making it 10 ties in all this season.

In the relegation battle, 17th-placed Aston Villa have 34 points with a goal difference of -26.

Watford are in 18th with 34 points and a -27 goal difference – the same as Bournemouth.

Bournemouth’s record on the road is dreadful, dropping 12 of their last 13 away games.

Any Bournemouth win takes them to at least -26 while any defeat for Villa takes them to at least -27 and Watford to -28.

However, Bournemouth’s record on the road is dreadful, dropping 12 of their last 13 away games. In fact, they have not secured a single point away from home since a surprise 1-0 win at Chelsea on December 14.

So  the price of +120 or an Everton win is worth a look, too.

After a run of five straight defeats following the resumption of the EPL – six straight in total – Eddie Howe’s team finally stopped the rot with a 0-0 draw at home against Spurs on July 9.

That was followed by a shock 4-1 thrashing of a Leicester City team enduring a struggle in the post-suspension period.

Since then, however,  normal service has been depressingly resumed for Bournemouth with a 2-1 defeat at second-placed Manchester City, followed by a 2-0 home setback against local South Coast rivals Southampton.

Four Straight Defeats at Goodison Park

Bournemouth have to overcome a miserable record at Everton. In the four previous EPL seasons since their promotion from the Championship, they have lost four times there.

However meaningless Everton’s season has become, they have not lost at home in the league since November – and not at all since the appointment of manager Ancelotti last December.

Bournemouth were 3-1 winners at home against Everton last September, but their influential defender Nathan Ake is battling for fitness and may miss the game.

Scoreboard watching will likely be part of this matchup for Bournemouth fans, as Aston Villa vs West Ham United and Watford vs Arsenal will also be played at the 11am ET time slot Sunday.

Pick: Draw (+270)
