Over/Under & Spread

The total is set at 2.5 goals, with the over at -135. Bettors must keep an eye on the over because both meetings this term between these West counterparts had no shortage of goals. The under is at +105.

FC Dallas vs Minnesota United Preview

Dallas was very impressive in 2022, going 14-9-11, and finished the year with just one defeat in their last six games. Luchi Gonzalez’s side beat Sporting KC 2-1 in their finale as Sebastian Lletget and Paul Arriola produced the goods. That was their seventh game in a row on home soil they steered clear of defeat.

In fact, Dallas had only lost three times at Toyota Stadium all season. This isn’t a team that scores a lot of goals, netting just 48 in 34 games. Instead, Dallas relies on their stellar backline, who conceded a Western Conference-low 37 times. The frontline was fantastic in a 3-0 win vs. Minnesota in September and will be hoping for a similar result this time around.

Minnesota just sneaked into the playoffs on Decision Day with a much-needed 2-0 win against Vancouver thanks to goals from Franco Fragapane and Jonathan Gonzalez, ultimately finishing in sixth spot. This is actually their fourth consecutive year in the postseason, losing in the first round in 2021.

However, the Loons aren’t in great form at the moment. They’ve lost four of their last six games, registering just one win during that span. One of those defeats was to Dallas as well. Adrian Heath’s men were very poor on the road during the campaign, posting a 6-10-1 record.

Lineups and Injuries

Dallas Projected Lineup: Paes; Twumasi, Hedges, Martinez, Farfan; Lletget, Quignon, Pomykal; Obrian, Ferreira, Arriola

Injuries & Absences: Kamungo

Minnesota Projected Lineup: St. Clair; Taylor, Boxall, Kallman, Lawrence; Lod, Trapp; Gonzalez, Reynoso, Fragapane; Amarilla

Injuries & Absences: Weah, Hlongwane, Dotson, Haye, Dibassy

FC Dallas vs Minnesota United Prediction

Dallas is honestly just the stronger club here. Minnesota is far from consistent in the final third and the hosts are extremely reliable defensively. I’m liking the Toros to advance to the next round of the playoffs with a victory on Monday.

Pick: FC Dallas -112
