Norrie’s Fourth Semifinal of the Year
25-year old Norrie earned his spot in his fourth semifinal of 2021 when he defeated his quarterfinal opponent, and fellow countryman, Jack Draper on Friday. In just about an hour and a half, Norrie defeated Draper 6-3, 6-3..
Norrie started and ended the match off strong, just completely outplaying his opponent, and managed to save all his break points, not allowing Draper to convert any of them.

Despite this being his fourth semifinal of the year, and having a couple of final appearances, he is still looking for that title win. He doesn’t have the best record on career, with just 8-9 over his career, but has improved his overall record on the year to 28-12.
Shapovalov Eases His Way Into the Semifinals
After a battle of a first round match, where he took on Aleksandar Vukic, Shapovalov has eased his way to the semifinals here, and has yet to drop a set on his way.
The 22-year old is coming off a straight set win over quarterfinal opponent Fraces Tiafoe. Due to darkness this match started on Friday, but ended up having to be completed on Saturday. But Shapovalov was able to defeat the American 6-3, 6-4, in about an hour and a half of match play.
Denis Shapovalov ends Frances Tiafoe's winning streak on grass, beats the American 6-3, 6-4 with another good performance to reach the SFs.

On route to the win, Shapovalov’s serve was once again on display, as the strong lefty recorded 11 aces. He also managed to save all five break points, and convert two.
Like his upcoming semifinal opponent, Shapovalov has had semifinal and final appearances this year, but he hasn’t managed to secure a title in 2021.
Head-to-Head & Best Bet
These two players have never faced each other before, so we don’t have much to go off of there. But this does have all the making for a close, exciting match.

Neither player has had a lot of success of the grass surface, so both have the opportunity to breakthrough here. Obviously the young Canadian’s serve is a big factor of his game, and it is something that can help him secure the win here, but he’ll have to keep his double fault downs.
It’ll be interesting to see how Shapovalov comes out, having just played his quarterfinal match. Granted, it wasn’t a full match, so fatigue shouldn’t be a huge factor, but Norrie has had some more rest in between his quarterfinal and this match.
We’ve seen that Shapovalov can get in his own head. If he’s able to just keep down his unforced errors, and double faults, specifically, he should be able to come out on top here. But don’t be surprised in Norrie takes a set. He’s going to be a tough opponent, and come out strong.
Best Bet: Shapovalov (-220)
