The four top favorites to win this year’s French Open remain very much in action.

But the top favorite from the bottom half. No. 4 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, has had two extremely tough matches to open his quest.

The top seeds (with the exception of the clay-averse Daniil Medvedev) remain heavy favorites to win their matches and move onto the second week.

But Tsitsipas was at -10000 Thursday to beat qualifier Zdenek Kolar. It took him four hours – and it really should have gone five sets, had Kolar not faded at the end of the fourth set.

So you never know, especially with Tsitsipas. He looks like all the pressure of being the favorite to make the French final again this year is on him.

We’ve picked out a couple of potential upsets for today’s parlay, which makes those matches even more intriguing.

French lefty Hugo Gaston and his drop shots could drive young Holger Rune around the bend. And Cristian Garin, who has played both well and awful on the clay this year, could sneak up on Andrey Rublev. Combined, that pays out +1355 if it hits.

McDonald vs Sinner Prediction

While we predicted Mackenzie McDonald’s upset win over No. 22 seed Nikoloz Basilashvili Thursday, trying to back that up with another win over No. 11 Jannik Sinner will be a tougher proposition.

But McDonald is really, really solid. And Sinner, beaten by Rafael Nadal in his first two French Opens after getting to the quarterfinals (2020) and the fourth round (2021), can have empty passages.

He’ll likely win and justify those huge odds. But we think McDonald can take a set.

Pick: Sinner in four sets (+300)

Kecmanovic vs Medvedev Prediction

This one has a little tinge of an upset attached to it, considering Medvedev’s humdrum record on clay, and Kecmanovic’s emergence as one of the better players of the last few months.

He’s at a career-high ranking of No. 31, seeded at a major for the first time, and 25-11 on the season.

They’re meeting for the first time.

Medvedev has looked surprisingly good so far for a player who only got one official match on the red clay before Paris. But he was helped in the first round as his opponent, Argentine lefty Facundo Bagnis, was clearly slowed by a leg injury.

The Russian was more impressive against the solid Laslo Djere. So far, he hasn’t dropped a set.

It’s going to be fairly cool on Saturday in Paris (not as cool as Sunday, but cool). And the ball won’t travel as quickly as Medvedev would prefer.

If not an upset, this one will go awhile.

Pick: Over 4.5 sets (+240)

Simon vs Cilic Prediction

Simon, at 37, is playing his final French Open and has been on a wave of nostalgia as he reached the third round.

But it ends against Cilic, who must be excited as the prospect of facing a player of Simon’s current ranking to get into the second week of a major.

Cilic was a quarterfinalist in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018. Generally, save for a few first-round shockers, he has lost when he was “suppposed” to, to a higher-ranked player.

But the twist here is this: Simon is 6-1 in his career against Cilic. The only time the Croat has beaten him was at the 2014 US Open. Cilic ended up going all the way in that tournament for his first (and so far only) Grand Slam title.

So on paper, that’s intriguing. In reality, Simon had little left in his second round; he won’t feel much better on Saturday no matter how much he wants it.

Pick: Cilic in four sets (+275)
