Borussia Dortmund beat Real Madrid in the group stage this season, but this time the stakes are highest as the winners gets a spot in the UEFA Champions League final; the first leg is this Wednesday at 14:45 PM ET at the Signal-Iduna-Park.

Borussia Dortmund has only won one of their six competitive matchups with Real Madrid all time (three draws, two defeats), but the last time Madrid visited Germany, Dortmund not only won but took control of the group faith.

The last time Dortmund reached the semi-finals of the Champions League was back in 1997/98 and the one team that sent them home was Real Madrid (2-0 on aggregate).

“We are ready to give it everything we have against the biggest club in the world because if you reach the semi-final then you obviously want to get into that final,” coach Juergen  Klopp said.

Dortmund tactical attacking desire, along with their tremendous technique make them a complicated team for Real Madrid, but the Spanish will rely on a good defense and a tremendous speedy counterattack; that how coach Jose Mourinho loves it.

“When we played the first couple of matches we were not as good as we are now. Things are going much better; the defense is more compact, and we have the extra confidence to do very well in the tie,” Madrid Angel Di Maria explained.

“We know that Borussia are a very similar team to ours, with a very strong counterattack, but every time we play away from home in Europe we score”, he added.

To bet the Dortmund win in the moneyline for game one pays +165; a draw pays +235, and a Real Madrid win +155
