After dropping two games in a row and essentially losing the AFC’s second seed, the Baltimore Ravens decided to let of offensive coordinator Cam Cameron; ex Colts Head coach Jim Caldwell we’ll take his job.

“My charge — our responsibility as a coaching staff — is to maximize the opportunities for our team to win, and we can still reach all of our goals for this season,” coach John Harbaugh said in a statement announcing the move.

“There is a very human side to this,” he said. “Cam is my friend, he taught me a lot about coaching, and he is an outstanding coach.”

“It’s not about fair or unfair, right or wrong,” he said. “We need a change. Our plan and our goals are to win games, win our division and get to the playoffs.”

Jim Caldwell was the quarterback coach for the Ravens, and was the head coach of the Colts when Peyton Manning and Indianapolis lost the Super Bowl against the New Orleans Saints.  Last season as a head coach of Indy, Caldwell had a 2-14 record and as fired.

“Obviously, the Ravens offense is the Ravens offense,” Caldwell said. “It’s not a philosophical change. John sets the philosophy here with this team and we follow suit. We have a bunch of willing young men who are certainly doing a tremendous job of pushing us forward”.

The situation that ended with the sudden chance was the lack of touches Ray Rice has gotten over the last few games.

The Ravens are listed +2000 to win the Super Bowl.
