Despite it seems like the shot of getting Chip Kelly has already passed for Philadelphia, the Eagles made a back door agreement with the now ex-Coach of Oregon to become the head coach of the Pennsylvania franchise.
Kelly was interviewed by the Eagles and the Browns weeks ago, but he said he would stay in college football, well that escalated quickly.  He became the 21st coach of the Eagles franchise this Wednesday morning.

“Chip Kelly will be an outstanding head coach for the Eagles,” owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. “He has a brilliant football mind. He motivates his team with his actions as well as his words. He will be a great leader for us and will bring a fresh, energetic approach to our team.”

“I said I’ll always listen, and that’s what I’ll do,” Kelly said. “I know that people want to talk to me because of our players. The success of our football program has always been about our guys. It’s an honor for someone to say they’d want to talk to me about maybe moving on to go coach in the National Football League. But it’s because of what those guys do. I’ll listen, and we’ll see.”

In Oregon,  the news was a shocker, but some understood the move. “I want to thank Chip for his leadership and commitment to building on the Oregon Football foundation of excellence,” Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said in a statement. “We have enjoyed incredible success over the past four years. I have great respect for Chip, consider him a friend and wish him the best of luck in the NFL.”

Kelly and Eagles will compete two times a year against two Super Bowl winning coaches in Tom Coughlin and Mike Shanahan; the good part is that they still have the Cowboys to make fun of.
