The first major of 2020 is finally upon us as 95 of the top 100 players in the world are teeing it up with Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas the betting co-favorites at the PGA Championship.

Back in January, Koepka and Rory McIlroy were +900 favorites to win the Wanamaker trophy, and their PGA Championship odds have fluctuated to the point that you could’ve got Koepka at +2000 just last month and can now snag McIlroy at +1500.

There are plenty of prop bets that you can wager on for the first major of the season and we’ve rounded them all up.

McIlroy Is a Par 5 Eagle Machine

Among the big four golfers who are on the board to make an eagle this week, Rory McIlroy is surprisingly leaps and bounds ahead of the other three in terms of registering eagles on par 5’s this season.

There will only be two par 5’s this week at TPC Harding Park, so the opportunities to make an eagle will be much shorter. The Ulsterman is tied for third in par 5 eagles with a whopping eleven, which is far more than Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka.

Par 5 Eagles This Season Among Big Four Golfers

Player Par 5 Eagles
Rory McIlroy 11
Bryson DeChambeau 5
Justin Thomas 3
Brooks Koepka 2

The odds are the same for McIlroy, Thomas and Koepka (+185) that they’ll record an eagle this week, with DeChambeau even lower (+120), because of his penchant for smashing mammoth drives which could lead to an eagle on a par 4.

If you’re deciding on who to bet on, the choice is clearly McIlroy, given that he’s tied for first in holes per eagle.

Pick: Rory McIlroy makes eagle in tournament (+185)

The Winner Has Come From Final Group in Recent Years

In seven of the last eight PGA Championships, the winner has been in the final pairing on Sunday afternoon, with Justin Thomas being the lone exception at the 2017 tournament.

The prop bet lists a yes outcome for the winner coming from the final group on Sunday at -250 compared to +185 for it to be someone behind the leading twosome.

With TPC Harding Park expected to be a stern test with penal rough and tight fairways, it’s not likely that someone will shoot a blistering final round from way back to steal victory, meaning it’s a prudent move to stick with recent history repeating itself.

Pick: Winner to play in final 1st tee grouping in final round (-250)

Margin of Victory a Close Call

In the last 22 years of this tournament, only twice has the winner won by four or more shots (Rory McIlroy by eight in 2012, Tiger Woods by five in 2006).

Playoffs have also been rare, with just three since the Tiger-Bob May duel in 2000. Vijay Singh beat Justin Leonard and Chris DiMarco in 2004, Martin Kaymer defeating Bubba Watson in 2010 and Keegan Bradley defeating Jason Dufner in 2011 being the three instances.

The winning score has been exactly three strokes just twice since 1992 (Y.E. Yang 2009, Jason Day 2015), which is a long way of saying it usually comes down to one or two shots, with the last three and four of the last seven iterations being two stroke victories.

Pick: Winning Margin of 2 strokes (+350)
