  • The Giants and Tigers play game 2 of a 3 game set on Saturday, April 15th
  • Oakland snapped a 6-game losing streak with an 8-4 win over Baltimore Wednesday night
  • Check out the Giants vs Tigers odds below as well as our best bet and prediction

After dropping a 7-5 extra inning affair in the first game of their series against the Tigers (4-9, 1-3 home), the Giants (5-8, 3-4 away) look to square things up at Comerica Park when these two meet up again on Saturday, April 15th in Detroit.

Neither team has gotten off to a great start this year, as both sides sit below the .500 mark. The Giants will happily be sending Anthony DeSclafini to the hill for this contest, while the Tigers give the ball to Michael Lorenzen who makes his first start of the year.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 pm ET in a game that can be seen on Bally Sports and NBC Bay Area. Below, we dish out the Giant vs Tigers odds while also offering up our best bet and pick.

Giants vs Tigers Odds

Team Moneyline Runline Total
San Francisco Giants -154 -1.5 (+100) O 9 (-105)
Detroit Tigers +130 +1.5 (-120) U 9 (-115)

With an expected edge on the mound, the Giants are -154 moneyline favorites to avoid their third straight loss. It looks like a beautiful day for baseball in Detroit with the forecast calling for sunshine and temperatures of 77 degrees come game time.

DeSclafini Off To Excellent Start

After undergoing season-ending right ankle surgery in July of last season, DeScalfini has bounced back in a big way to begin this campaign. The 32-year-old veteran has allowed just one earned run in two starts so far this season going at least six innings in each outing.

The righty made only five starts last year pitching just 19 innings in total, so the bar wasn’t set to high to begin this season. However, he is looking like the quality starter who went 13-7 with a 3.17 ERA in his initial campaign with the Giants in 2021.

Tigers Looking To Win 3 In a Row

Securing their first home victory of the season had to feel good for this Detroit squad who have been underdogs in the MLB odds in every game they’ve played this season.

Playing his first season in Motown after spending the first couple years of his career in Philadelphia, Nick Maton played the role of hero on Friday night, hitting a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 11th to propel the Tigers to a 7-5 win.

With the change to the Interleague scheduled allowing all teams to face each other during the season, this will be the second campaign in a row where these squads will face each other. They split the season series at two gams apiece last year.

Giants vs Tigers Prediction

Each team has used at least four relievers for three consecutive nights heading into this afternoon affair. With DeSclafini on the hill, that has to give San Francisco an edge based on his early season performances. Lorenzen is making his first start of the year after suffering a left groin strain during spring training.

It’ll be interesting to see how Lorenzen does in his first appearance of the season. The Tiger would love him to toss at least five innings with their bullpen overworked the last few nights. The 31-year old is known for having control issues. He walked 44 batters in 97 2/3 innings last year.

Given the pitching situation and the Giants aim to make up for their extra inning loss on Friday, our prediction is to take the visitors to square this series up. The Giants haven’t had a three game losing streak so far this year and the Tigers haven’t won three in a row yet either. We think both those trends continue past this game.

Pick: San Francisco Giants Moneyline (-154)
