The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to build on momentum of back-to-back victories when they host the Chicago Cubs at 7:08 p.m. ET Sunday in the finale of a four-game series at Dodger Stadium.

After being no-hit by four Cubs pitchers in the series opener Thursday, the Dodgers (46-31) have won the last two games, including 3-2 on Saturday. The consecutive victories come after a four-game losing streak for Los Angeles, a substantial favorite in this matchup.

The back-to-back losses for the Cubs (42-35) follow three wins in four games.

Left-hander Clayton Kershaw (8-7, 3.43) is scheduled to start for the Dodgers against rookie Adbert Alzolay (4-6, 4.19).

Alzolay Looks to Regroup

Alzolay returned from the injured list Monday and took the loss against Cleveland at home. He allowed three runs on three hits in 4.2 innings with five strikeouts and one walk after missing two weeks with a blister on his right middle finger.

Alzolay also lost his last start before being injured but did pass his first inspection by the umpires Monday.

Alzolay has allowed three runs or fewer in 10 of his 12 starts this season. Yet he has just three quality starts and none since May 22.

Away from Wrigley Field, Alzolay’s record is 1-4 with a 4.61 ERA in five starts on the road this season. However, he is 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA in three daytime starts.

On May 5 in Chicago, Alzolay made his first career start against the Dodgers. He came away with a no-decision while giving up two runs in five innings.

Alzolay is backed by a strong bullpen as the Cubs’ 2.68 relief ERA leads the major leagues. He will also be facing a Dodgers’ lineup that has managed three runs or less in five of the last six games.

The Cubs bullpen has had a lot of days like these.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is hitting .333 (24 for 72) in 20 games in June.

Kershaw Seeks Redemption

In his lone outing against the Cubs this season, Kershaw had the shortest start of his stellar career. He lasted only one inning and 39 pitches while allowing four runs in a loss May 4 at Wrigley Field.

Kershaw is 6-4 in his career versus the Cubs with a 3.21 ERA in 12 starts.

He has lost his last two starts overall and is 1-4 with a 4.50 ERA in his past five outings. However, Kershaw has reeled off three straight quality starts and has 10 in 16 games this season.

Kershaw took the loss Tuesday against the Padres at San Diego. He gave up three runs and four hits in six innings while striking out seven and walking two.

Kershaw is 4-1 with a 3.06 ERA in eight home starts in 2021 but 2-3 with a 4.91 in five starts during the day.

The Cubs have scored four runs or fewer in 12 of their last 13 games. First baseman Anthony Rizzo is just 5 for 32 (.156) in his last 10 games, though he did hit a home run Saturday night and made for an awkward moment for Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Catcher Willson Contreras is 7 for 16 (.438) against Kershaw with two home runs and infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant has gone 7 for 22 (.318) with a double and three homers. Right fielder Jason Heyward is 1 for 15 (.067) with seven strikeouts, though.

Cubs Hold Slight Historic Edge

The Cubs have won four of six games against the Dodgers this season. Since the start of the 2014 season, Chicago holds a slim 28-25 advantage, including beating Los Angeles in six games in the 2016 National League Championship Series.

On Saturday night, Cody Bellinger homered with two out in the ninth inning to give the Dodgers their first walk-off victory of the season.

Max Muncy and Justin Turner each drove in a run in the first inning, and the Dodgers then made 26 outs before Bellinger crushed a 422-foot solo shot to center.

David Price got two outs in the ninth for the win while pitching for the third consecutive day for Los Angeles.

Kershaw is no longer the same pitcher who won three NL Cy Young Awards in a four-year span from 2011-14. However, he is still effective and has a lot of pride, so look him to bounce back strong in his second shot at the Cubs this season.

It also helps that the Dodgers are 25-13 at home in 2021.

The Pick: Dodgers (-200)
