Two of the top NBA MVP candidates meet when the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry visit the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid at 7:30 p.m. ET Monday at the Wells Fargo Center.

Curry is second in the NBA in scoring with a 31.0 point average. Embiid is averaging 30.0 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.

The 76ers (39-17) are on a four-game winning streak and lead the Eastern Conference by 1.5 games over the Brooklyn Nets. Philadelphia downed the Los Angeles Clippers 106-103 on Friday as a 4-point favorite, raising its home record to 22-5.

Ninth in the Western Conference, the Warriors (28-29) had their four-game winning streak snapped Saturday with a 119-14 loss to the Celtics in Boston as 3-point underdogs.

Odds as of April 18th.

Curry’s 47 Not Quite Enough

Curry had one of his best performances of the season Saturday with 47 points, but it could not keep the Warriors from losing to the Celtics. Curry made 11 three-point field goals.

Curry has scored at least 30 points in 10 consecutive games since missing five games with a tailbone injury and is averaging 39.1 in that span. He also had his seventh game this season with at least 40 points.

Andrew Wiggins added 22 points for the Warriors and Kent Bazemore scored 16 points. Draymond Green dished 10 assists.

The Warriors shot 51.6% (41 of 80) and led by as many as 16 points in the second quarter. However, they were hurt by 17 turnovers, including five each by Curry and Bazemore.

Curry gave the Warriors a scare when he turned an ankle with seven minutes left. However, he stayed in the game and is expected to play Monday.

Kelly Oubre Jr. missed his fifth straight game with a wrist injury. There is a chance he could return against the 76ers, which will be the Warriors’ fourth game of a five-game road trip.

The loss also ended the Warriors’ four-game win streak against the spread.

Embiid Flashes MVP Form

Embiid played a big part in ending the Clippers’ seven-game winning streak as he had 36 points and 14 rebounds. It was the big man’s 12th game this season with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds.

Embiid is playing so well that he has received a Rubik’s Cube tribute.

Consistently double teamed, Embiid made 16 of 18 free throws while finishing with at least 36 points for the third game in a row. Embiid also recorded his third double-double in the last four games.

Furkan Korkmaz hit five three-point field goals and finished with 18 points. Ben Simmons had a fine all-round game with 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocked shots.

Danny Green had four steals and Korkmaz added three as the Clippers had 19 turnovers. Los Angeles played without leading scorer Kawhi Leonard.

Tobias Harris (right knee soreness) was one of three 76ers players who sat out because of injuries along with Seth Curry (left hip flexor tightness) and Dwight Howard (left knee soreness).

No Superstars in Last Matchup

Both Embiid and Curry sat out on March 23rd when the 76ers beat the Warriors 108-98 on the road as 4-point favorites.

Harris led the 76ers with 25 points and 13 rebounds and Simmons contributed 22 points. Starting in place of Embiid, Tony Bradley scored 18 points on 8-of-8 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds. Philadelphia held a 51-38 edge on the boards.

Oubre topped the Warriors with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Jordan Poole scored 19 points and Damion Lee chipped in with 16 points.

Both teams are playing well and the 76ers are tough at home. However, Curry is on fire right now and makes the Warriors a dangerous underdog.

Pick: Warriors +8 (-110)
