North Carolina Betting Outlook

Senior forward Armando Bacot is making a case to win ACC Player of the Year after bypassing a shot at the NBA for another season at North Carolina.

Bacot is second in the conference in both scoring and rebounding at 18.2 points and 11.1 boards a game. His 56.6 field goal percentage ranks fourth and his Wooden Awards odds are +10000.

Against Michigan, Bacot shot 11 of 15 and finished with 26 points. It was his second straight game with at least 20 points and the fifth time this season.

North Carolina, thanks to Bacot, scored 40 of its 80 points in the paint. The Tar Heels also shot 50.0% (29 of 58) from the field.

Bacot isn’t the only North Carolina player who is having a fine season.

Junior guard Caleb Love is averaging an ACC-leading 18.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists a game. Junior guard RJ Davis has averages of 15.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. Senior forward Pete Nance is scoring 11.8 points and pulling down 6.6 rebounds a game after transferring from Northwestern.

Davis had 19 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four three-pointers in the win over Michigan while Love added 18 points, five boards, and four dimes.

North Carolina is averaging 81.5 points a game, which ranks 29th in the nation. However, it is 312th in scoring defense with a 74.5 average.

Pitt Betting Outlook

Pitt is 2-0 in ACC play for just the third time in its 10 seasons in the conference.

Junior forward Blake Hinson has been the Panthers’ top player after transferring from Iowa State. He is averaging 17.2 points and 7.4 rebounds a game.

In the win at Syracuse, Hinson had a big night with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists. He notched his fourth double-double of the season and fourth 20-point game.

Senior guard Nelly Cummings lit up the Orange for 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting from distance and had six assists. It was the Colgate transfer’s second 20-point outing of the season, both coming in the last three games.

For the season, the pride of Midland, Pa., is averaging 11.2 points and dishing 4.8 assists, which is fifth in the conference.

Senior guard Jamarius Burton is filling the stat sheet with averages of 14.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.

Another transfer, senior guard Greg Elliott, has 12 points and seven rebounds against Syracuse to raise his season averages to 11.1 and 4.9. Elliott previously played at Marquette.

Pitt shot 40.6% (13 of 32) from three-point range while holding Syracuse to 25.0% (6 of 24) from beyond the arc. The Panthers have made at least 10 threes in five of their last seven games.

Pitt also outrebounded the Orange 44-35 and forced 16 turnovers.

Pitt is 39th in the nation in three-point defense, limiting opponents to 28.9%.

North Carolina vs Pitt Prediction

Pitt has won three of its last four meetings against North Carolina, including notching a 76-67 victory last season on the road. Burton had 14 points and seven assists for the Panthers and Love scored 19 points for the Tar Heels.

Pitt has had North Carolina’s number in recent seasons. Look for the Panthers to keep this game close on its home floor.
