The Cowboys push for a division title and the NFC’s number one seed continues tonight on Thursday Night Football. Dallas will travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans, who will look nothing like the team we’re accustomed to seeing.

That’s because nearly half of their starting roster won’t play. This game is essentially meaningless to Tennessee, and they’re treating it that way. Not only has their team been decimated by injury, but they’re also trotting out a new QB. Joshua Dobbs replaces the ineffective Malik Willis, which has prompted bettors to shovel money on Dallas per the Cowboys vs Titans public betting splits.

We’re going to be betting against Dobbs and the Tennessee offense as well in our Cowboys vs Titans same-game parlay, as the Dallas defense is a nightmare matchup for them.

Dak Prescott Over 219.5 Passing Yards

Dak is coming off his best game of the season. He threw for a season-high 347 yards, torching the Eagles’ number-one graded pass defense.

He’s easily exceeded 219.5 passing yards in seven of his past eight starts and has averaged over 9 yards per completion over his last two outings. As a result, he’s the cover boy for the Cowboys vs Titans player props article.

Also working in his favor is the matchup against this depleted Tennessee defense. Per the Cowboys vs Titans injury report, Tennessee will be missing six starters on defense.

This was already a team that ranked 27th per DVOA against the pass, and without defenders like Denico Autry, Bud Dupree and Amani Hooker, they have little chance of slowing down Prescott and Co.

Joshua Dobbs Under 174.5 Passing Yards

As for Dobbs, there’s been nothing to suggest he’ll provide even competent QB play at the NFL level. This is a guy that nearly every team could have had at some point since he turned pro in 2017, but few have shown interest in.

He hasn’t started a game since December 30th, 2016 while playing college ball at Tennessee, and has been waived by the Jaguars (before Trevor Lawrence was ever drafted), Browns and Lions in recent years.

Dobbs has just 17 NFL passes on his resume, with zero touchdowns and one interception. His average yards per completion is an embarrassing 2.6, and now he’ll have to face the NFL’s second-highest graded pass defense per DVOA. Needless to say, expectations should be kept very low.

Tennessee Titans Under 16.5 Points

We expect the Titans’ passing game to struggle, and their rushing attack isn’t set up for success either. That’s because two-time rushing King Derrick Henry is out, paving the way for Hassan Haskins to start. The former Michigan RB has just 11 career NFL carries and will be running behind an offensive line missing arguably its two best linemen (Taylor Lewan and Ben Jones).

Tennessee chooses to run at the league’s fourth-highest rate, and will be in shambles if they need to rely exclusively on Dobbs to move the football. That could very well be the case though, as this Dallas defense is fresh off holding Philly’s number-one rushing attack to 87 yards.

NFL Points Per Game Ranks

Rank Team PTS/G
32 Denver Broncos 15.5
31 Indianapolis Colts 16.5
30 Houston Texans 16.9
29 Pittsburgh Steelers 17.6
28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17.7
27 Tennessee Titans 17.9

Even when healthy, the Titans are the league’s sixth-lowest scoring team. They average less than 18 points per outing and have scored 16 or fewer points in four of their past five games per the Cowboys vs Titans picks.
