Public Spread Support Chiefly on KC Over Jets

The online NFL betting apps are giving the Chiefs a big number on the road as the 8.5-point chalk. Generally, working as a road favorite hasn’t been working out for the Chiefs.

Kansas City is 4-5 against the spread as the road chalk since the start of last season. However, KC is 1-0 ATS as  an away pick this season and they did cover last season as an 8.5-point pick at the Las Vegas Raiders.

The people seem to be going with that recency bias. In NFL spreads,  the Chiefs are drawing 80% of handle and 90% of bets as of early Sunday afternoon.

Kansas City is 3-1 ATS in the last four games against the Jets. At New York, the Chiefs are 3-2 ATS in the last five meetings with the Jets. New York is 3-4 ATS as a home underdog since the beginning of last season.

NFL Total Lowest on Chiefs Game Since 2017

The 41.5-point total is the lowest in a Chiefs game since Dec. 31, 2017. That was the very first start for Patrick Mahomes as KC QB and the game against the Denver Broncos was assigned a total of 37.5 points. Mahomes and the Chiefs hit the over via a 27-24 victory.

Last season, the lowest total on a KC game was 42 points on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. The number went under as the Chiefs were 26-10 winners. With Mahomes at QB, Kansas City is 12-8 on the over with the total is set under 50 points. He’s 5-2 on the over/under when the total is under 45 points.

Three of the last four Chiefs vs Jets games have hit on the under. Seven of New York’s last eight games went under. Nonetheless, the public is ignoring this trend. NFL public betting splits are showing the people backing the over with 70% of handle and 82% of bets.

Moneyline Massively Supporting Kansas City

Everything is leaning in Kansas City’s favor. Finding someone to back the Jets, well, that’s about as difficult as getting your hands on tickets to a Taylor Swift concert. KC is pulling 85% of handle and 96% of bets in the NFL public betting splits.

The Jets are 4-0 SU in the last four home games against the Chiefs. Kansas City is 5-0 SU in the club’s past five road games.
