  • Manchester City and Liverpool are clear favorites to win the EPL
  • With each of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham not that far behind, could any offer a great value bet?
  • What other EPL bets are available for bettors?

It seems with each passing week the odds of someone outside of Manchester City or Liverpool winning the Premier League look less likely. Even the closest contenders have seen there odds adjust drastically since last month.

Chelsea have seen their average odds to win the Premier League drop from +1100 on October 30 to +3700 as the closest contender. While Tottenham’s odds have dropped from +4000 to +6700 and Arsenal from +4000 to +8300.

Neither City or Liverpool have tasted defeat so far in this campaign, but could any dip in play offer value elsewhere?

Should You Look Past City and Liverpool?

I’ll admit, it’s getting harder to make a case for someone not named City or Liverpool finishing at the top of the table. That said, we’re still only 14 matches into the season, so much is still to be decided.

City have been dominating, having won 12 of 14 while outscoring opponents 43-6. Any argument against City would have to include their ability to stay focused all season, especially amid balancing Champions League aspirations.

They’ve also shown some vulnerability on the road with draws to Liverpool and newly promoted Wolves.

Poking holes in the EPL’s second place club is equally difficult.

Liverpool are only two points back of City and have allowed the fewest goals (five) in the league. However, they have not been the same dynamic scoring team as last year and have scored fewer goals (27) than each of Chelsea and Arsenal.

Which brings us to Chelsea and Arsenal who each sit only seven and eight points respectively off the summit. Each club has a new manager this season and each have responded well.

Chelsea have only suffered one defeat on the road to Spurs and is second to only City in overall expected goals. As the closest team behind the top two, +4000 odds are appealing.

Arsenal are fresh off a thrilling 4-2 victory in the weekend’s north London derby against Tottenham.

The Gunners suffered defeats to City and Chelsea in their opening two matches, but have since run off an impressive 12-match undefeated run in the Premier League.

They’ve also been scoring goals for fun with 32, which ranks second overall. In fact, only three times all season have they failed to score at least two goals in a match.

Spurs have looked equally strong and will always have a chance with English star Harry Kane. However, with four losses already, they likely don’t have enough to claim the title. If you’re still looking for EPL value, with odds of +10000, Unai Emery’s Arsenal look quite tempting.

Don’t Miss Out On Value In Additional Markets

Speaking of goals and specifically Arsenal goals, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the league’s Top Goalscorer. He leads the EPL with ten goals and offers odds of +400 which is only behind Spurs’ Harry Kane and City’s Sergio Agüero. The Arsenal man leads both by two goals.

Who wins the EPL will always dominate the conversation, but don’t forget about other markets like Top 4, Top 6, Relegation and others. Only one team can win the title, but four teams are battling for spots in next year’s Champions League.

The odds for City to finish top four have been wiped off the board, and at current prices Liverpool may not be far behind. If you want to lay some heavy juice you could look to Chelsea or Tottenham. But the Gunners at +120 could be the best value on the board considering they need only maintain their current position.

Odds To Finish Top 4

Team Odds
Liverpool -20000
Chelsea -400
Tottenham Hotspur -300
Arsenal +120
Manchester United +650

If you’re a United fan who believes what Manager Jose Mourinho is selling in that they still have a chance at a Top 4 finish then +650 “could” look appealing.

Though Man U are actually closer to relegation than they are to first. They’re eight points off fourth place, have allowed more goals than they’ve scored, and the negativity around the club and manager just continues to grow.
