It’s a massive Serie A Matchday 25 clash on Saturday as second-place Napoli host league leaders Inter Milan at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples. The kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM EST.

Napoli is unbeaten in five league outings, most recently securing a 2-0 victory over Venezia last weekend on the road. As for Inter, they were ousted by rivals AC Milan in a 2-1 nailbiter on Saturday, but the title-holders did beat Roma mid-week in the Coppa Italia.

This is the second meeting between the two sides this term, with the Nerazzurri running out as 3-2 winners in a goal-filled thriller back in November at the San Siro.

Napoli in Fine Form

The hosts come into this massive fixture in the best form possible. During their last five games, Napoli won four times and drew once. In that span, Luciano Spalletti’s men have scored a whopping 10 goals and conceded just two. While Inter does have a game in hand over the Blues, three points on Saturday could potentially put them in the top spot, for the time being, depending on the outcome of AC Milan’s clash with Sampdoria.

It was another convincing performance for Napoli against relegation-threatened Venezia on Sunday, easily cruising to victory. Talisman Victor Osimhen continued his impressive campaign with a fine header in the 59th minute from a picture-perfect cross from Matteo Politano. Andre Petagna eventually added an insurance goal in the dying seconds of injury time for the visitors.

It was the third clean sheet in their previous four outings and they’ve now allowed a league-low 16 goals in 24 matches this season.  Even more impressive, the side managed to stay solid at the back without center-back mainstay Kalidou Koulibaly, who just won AFCON with Senegal. He was back in training on Thursday but his status is unclear for the Inter game after a grueling month in Cameroon.

Inter Respond With Style

It’s safe to say that Inter was absolutely gutted to taste defeat to Milan in the historic derby a week ago, with Olivier Giroud breaking their hearts with two goals in a span of just three minutes late in the second half. But, the reigning champions put that loss in the rearview and responded in the best way possible on Tuesday against Roma in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals.

Edin Dzeko quickly got his side on the scoresheet just two minutes in after he clinically volleyed an Ivan Perisic cross right past the outstretched fingertips of Rui Patricio. Alexis Sanchez, who got a rare start in place of Lautaro Martinez up top, made his presence felt as well, belting an absolute screamer into the top left corner from outside the 18-yard box to put Inter two goals to the good.

Despite dropping three points to Milan, Simone Inzaghi’s group is playing fine football. That was their first defeat since December 7th in the Champions League to Real Madrid, a span of seven games unbeaten. Also, the Nerazzurri have only lost once in their last nine meetings with Napoli, coming out victorious in three of the previous four encounters.

Expect Martinez to be back in the starting XI alongside Dzeko. However, the Argentine has failed to score in five league outings. The strike duo will need to bring their best in Naples as Inter’s Serie A odds continue to shorten.

Napoli vs Inter Milan Prediction

The hosts are undeniably playing phenomenal football right now and they’ve only lost once in their last 15 against Inter on home soil. While this is certainly impressive, the holders are always capable of a positive result, whether it’s on the road or at the San Siro.

Both of these teams are quite stable defensively and I don’t think it’s going to be high-scoring. But, given Inter’s recent success against Napoli, I have to take them to run away with the full points here. The Under also holds value, having been hit in five of six meetings.

Pick: Inter (+150), Under 2.5 Goals (-107)
