  • The Chicago Bulls seek their third straight win as they host the Utah Jazz
  • Utah is a 1-point road underdog in this Saturday matchup
  • Read below for the Jazz vs Bulls odds and predictions

The Chicago Bulls (18-21, 10-9 home) might be just the 10-seed in the East, but they’ve been punching above their weight class with much success recently.

After impressive wins over the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers, they’ll look for their third straight win when they host the Utah Jazz (20-21, 8-14 away).

Like Chicago, Utah is clinging to final play-in spot in the West at 10, and just snapped a brutal 5-game skid with a win over the Rockets last time out.

This one gets underway Saturday (Jan 7) at 8pm ET from the United Center, in a game you can see live on NBA League Pass.

Despite their hot play, Chicago will be playing their second game in as many nights, part of the reason the NBA odds have the Bulls as just 1-point favorites, with a total set at 235.

The Bulls are 10-9 at home, tied with the Knicks for fewest home wins of anyone in playoff position in the East. The Jazz, meanwhile, may just be 8-14 on the road, but that’s the third highest road win total of any team in playoff position in the West.

Utah Jazz Betting Outlook

After dropping five straight, Lauri Markkanen made sure there wouldn’t be a sixth.

He dropped a career-high 49 points, along with eight rebounds, in a 131-114 win over the Houston Rockets, the 6th-straight game he’s led the Jazz in scoring.

Jordan Clarkson was the only other Jazz starter to hit double figures, with 19 points, four boards and five dimes.

As a team, Utah drilled 19-for-48 from three-point range, a crisp 39.6% mark, helping them crack 130+ points for the seventh time on the year. They are third in the NBA in scoring, dropping 117.5 points per contest.

They nearly give as much as they get, however, allowing 116.5 points per game, a lowly 24th in the NBA. Their defensive work inside is a big problem, as they surrender 55.9 points in the paint — the worst mark in the league.

Utah is quite susceptible to the running game as well: they’re 28th in fast break points allowed, at 16.1 points per game.

Chicago Bulls Betting Analysis

A game after ending Brooklyn’s winning streak at 12, the Bulls stacked another impressive victory on top of that Friday, pounding the Philadelphia 76ers 126-112. That put an end to Philly’s 11-game home winning streak.

Zach LaVine went supernova in this one, drilling 11-for-13 from beyond the arc, finishing with a game high 41 points, and adding six dimes. That offset a relatively quiet night from DeMar DeRozan, who shot 4-for-13 from the field, for 12 points with five boards and six assists.

The biggest outlier in this one? Chicago’s work from distance. A team that shoots an NBA-low 28.7 attempts from three point range — the only team in the league to put up less than 30 attempts per game — drilled 20-for-34 from distance. On the year, they are shooting it at the 6th-best rate, at 37.5%

On the year, Chicago makes teams pay for turning it over, converting those into 18.3 points per night, good for seventh in the league. Utah, coincidentally, is a bottom-10 team in the same category, surrendering an identical 18.3 points off turnovers.

Jazz vs Bulls Best Bet

This is the second and final meeting of the year, as the Bulls took a late November matchup 114-107.

After failing to cover their first two attempts on the second night of a back-to-back, the Bulls have been a bettors delight in the same scenario the last five, posting a 4-0-1 mark against the spread.

On the other hand, Utah has failed to take advantage with more rest than their opponent, going 4-6-0 in 10 games this year. They’ve been a solid road ‘dog, however, going 10-6 ATS. That’s tied for the 2nd-most wins in the NBA, trailing only Detroit.

Still, the Bulls are playing their best ball right now, and with this tight a spread, you ride the hot hand.

  • Pick: Bulls -1 (-110); 1.5 units to win 1.36 units
  • NBA Betting Record: 19-16 ATS, 1-1 ML, 2-3 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -3.78 units
