Karen Khachanov vs Novak Djokovic Betting Preview

It’s been a promising year for Khachanov, who made an impressive run to the semifinals at Flushing Meadows, even knocking out Nick Kygrios along the way. But, Casper Ruud proved to be too much for him in the end. Nonetheless, the Russian is playing good tennis at the moment and managed to eliminate a couple of solid opponents at the Astana Open.

Khachanov beat American Maxime Cressy in the opening round in straight sets including a tiebreaker in the second then also took down Marin Cilic on Wednesday, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. He was absolutely relentless in this match, saving 12 of 15 break points against a very experienced player on the tour. While it’s been a tough draw for Khachanov and it won’t get easier, he continues to flourish after the US Open. His only victory against Nole came in 2018 at the Rolex Paris Masters final in two sets.

The lack of consistent playing time doesn’t seem to be bothering Djokovic whatsoever. He just won yet another ATP title in Tel Aviv versus Cilic in straight sets and is now cruising his way through the Astana Open, notching six victories in a row heading into Friday. The Serb defeated Cristian Garin and Botic van de Zandschulp in the first two rounds, dropping just six games so far. He’s truly dominating in this tourney but Khachanov will be his toughest test yet.

Djokovic won 37 of his service points against van de Zandschulp and looked very sharp with his first serve, posting a 78% conversion rate. The lack of game time at majors isn’t fazing Nole the least and it’s important to note he leads the H2H versus Khachanov 3-1 on indoor surfaces.

Khachanov vs Djokovic Prediction

There are no signs of Djokovic slowing down right now. Khachanov has given the Serb some problems indoors in the past and usually puts up a fight. Since the Russian is in top form at the moment, I give him a chance to win a set. Take Nole to win in three sets and progress to the semis, where he’ll face either Roberto Bautista-Agut or Daniil Medvedev.

Pick: Novak Djokovic to win in 3 sets (+295)
