  • They are charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress
  • If you bet on Trump’s impeachment, when will your ticket cash?

The Democrats took the next step toward the impeachment of US President Donald Trump on Tuesday. They announced that they will be bringing two Articles of Impeachment against the 45th POTUS: Trump is being charged with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Naturally, the next question that is crossing the mind of everyone who wagered on the Trump impeachment outcome is how soon until a verdict is rendered.

That moment could arrive as early as next week.

As of Dec. 6, the Trump Impeachment odds stood at -1450 for “Yes”, while “No” voters were getting +800 odds. On the other hand, oddsmakers are offering -800 odds against Trump being removed from office via a conviction in a Senate Trial.

Outcome Odds
No -800
Yes +425

Odds taken on Dec. 10th.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote to impeach Trump. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell indicated that Trump would be put on trial in the Senate early in the New Year. As McConnell explained to CNN, it would be “right around the time the bowl games end.”

Understandable. After all, what would you rather watch – the President of the United States tried for high crimes and misdemeanors, or the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl?

Two-thirds of the Republican-controlled Senate would need to vote guilty in order for Trump to be convicted.

What Are The Impeachment Charges?

The genesis of Trump’s troubles stem from his decision to withhold both $400 million in military aid and a White House meeting from Ukraine. Trump is charged with demanding that Ukraine President Vladimir Zelensky agree to open an investigation into Hunter Biden.

Hunter is the son of Joe Biden, a top contender for the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination. Hunter Biden worked in Ukraine for an energy company.

Democrats are accusing Trump of overstepping his Presidential powers by pressuring Ukraine to investigate a political rival prior to the 2020 election. That’s the abuse of power charge.

The obstruction of Congress charges stem from Trump refusing to release documents relating to the investigation. He ignored subpoenas. He also refused to permit key senior officials familiar with or involved in this incident to testify before Congress.

The House opted not to add obstruction of justice charges to the Articles of Impeachment. The decision was taken on the advice of lawyers.

When Will The Democrats Let You Cash In?

Did you bet on Trump being impeached? If so, it won’t be long now until you get to cash that winner.

Would you believe Trump will be impeached for Christmas? You should, because that’s what’s going to happen.

Debate over the Articles of Impeachment will begin in the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday. The expectation is that the vote on whether to impeach Trump will follow early next week.

Democrats own a significant majority in the House. They require only a simple majority to impeach Trump.

Trump is the fourth US President to be staring down a possible impeachment and removal from office. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both impeached. Neither was convicted in their Senate trials, however.

Richard Nixon opted to resign from the Presidency. He did so prior to the Articles of Impeachment being introduced by the House.

Trump is the first President to face impeachment during his first term in the Oval Office.
